I have over ten years of experience teaching, directing, and designing at four year higher education institutions.  I currently serve as the Director of Theatre at Albany State University.  Immediately prior to ASU I taught for six years at Lee University, where I served as the Discipline Coordinator of Theatre.  I also taught for two years as a full time instructor at Bowling Green State University.

2011 - present

​During my time at Albany State University, I have taught directing, acting, theatre history, modern drama, black drama, production and performance, theatre management, oral interpretation and public speaking.  I served as a director as well as designer on productions of Side Man, Father of the Bride, Before It Hits Home, Ms. Elle, and The Colored Museum.  In Fall of 2012, I wrote and directed an original adaptation of Aristophanes' classic comedy Lysistrata titled Ms. Elle: A Musical Comedy.

Community Involvement

Co-Lead Renewed Minds, a support group for people with a mental illness and their family members.

 

Active member of Byne Baptist Church.

​During my six years at Lee University, I taught directing, acting, scene and set design, stagecraft, dramatic literature, dramatic theory & criticism, exploring cultural diversity through performance, and lighting & sound design.  I served as the Discipline Coordinator for the Theatre Program, which included scheduling classes, selecting the production season, and overseeing the budget.  I also served as the resident sound and graphic designer.  Productions I directed included The Glass Menagerie, You Can't Take It With You, My Children! My Africa!, Pride & Prejudice, Two Rooms, Enchanted April, Oleanna, Antigone, and Our Town. I earned the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Award for Excellence in Directing for Two Rooms.

My graduate assistantships at BGSU included teaching introductory theatre and film classes, as well as serving as the publicity manager and box office manager for the theatre program.  My production credits included: directing Crossing Delancey and Blood of the Caravans/Road Train; scene designing American Buffalo and Woza Albert!; sound designing The Heidi Chronicles, Shadowlands, Old Times, and On the Verge.
